Dress code

The dress code for the wedding is formal, but we know it will be warm in Mallorca, so a lighter, more relaxed fit is absolutely fine. Ladies, if you're keen to wear Indian attire, we’ve put together a little guide and inspiration board to help.

Indian weddings are all about vibrant colours, intricate details, and dressing to impress. Think embellished outfits and bold colours. That said, please be mindful of the weather – some traditional outfits can be heavy, so opt for something you’ll feel good in all day.

There’s absolutely no pressure to buy something new – Indian outfits can be surprisingly pricey! We’ve put together an inspiration board and listed some options below for different styles and budgets.

Types of outfits

Sari (or Saree) – Look for pre–stitched or pre–draped versions, as wrapping a traditional sari is tricky without practice.

Lehenga (or Lengha) – A classic, beautifully embroidered two–piece set with a long skirt and matching top.

Sharara – A stylish option featuring a long top paired with wide–leg or flared trousers.

Indo–Western – A modern fusion look. Think co–ords or patterned dresses paired with bold jewellery. (A lehenga/sharara is essentially a co–ord set!)

Where to shop

There are plenty of options to suit different styles and budgets:

  • Online

    • Etsy (many sellers also offer custom measurements when you order)

  • In person – Head to an Indian clothing shop if you’d like to try on different styles and fabrics before choosing.

  • High Street – ASOS often has embellished dresses that can work beautifully, or search for co-ords or jumpsuits. Dresses that you already own can be worn with Indian jewellery for a modern twist — great if you’d like something re-wearable.

  • Rent – If you’d prefer not to buy something you may only wear once, try rental sites like By Rotation. They offer a wide variety of styles and sizes. Use code WELCOME15 for 15% off your first order.

  • Jewellery – Look at online stores like Glimour, Sokora, Etsy

Quick tips

  1. Saris can be tricky to wrap. Look for pre-stitched or ready-to-wear versions if you’re unsure.

  2. Please avoid wearing red and white outfits.

  3. Timing is key if you're ordering from India; give yourself plenty of time (shipping + alterations). It’s normal for Indian clothing Instagram accounts (like Kultham Fashion) to take orders over WhatsApp.

  4. Jewellery ideas: Indian earrings (jhumkas), bangles, bindis, and statement necklaces work beautifully with any outfit

  5. Check reviews before buying.

  6. Message Jessie if you’ve got any questions or need advice.
